A big step of progressing your life is going to be getting rid of the things that are a negative impact on your life. The things that are no longer helping you, or were always a negative impact to begin with. You should always go with your feelings and if there is anything or anyone that is making you feel bad, then it has to go. If you don’t feel good about it, it’s simply not for you. This could be a job, a relationship, an activity you partake in, or anything else. You should be enjoying every part of your day, not dreading it.
The first part is to know what the issue is. Usually you will know what it is that is bothering you, but sometimes there are underlying things that just haven’t surfaced yet. I’ve found two ways to have realizations of what you need to change, meditating and writing. Meditation is probably the most beneficial thing I’ve added to my life to grow. I can go on and on about what meditation benefits, so I wrote a page with that included here. In this case, meditation has helped me have realizations of what I’m lacking and what needs to go in my life. Usually, they will come up during random meditation sessions, but you can focus on a topic and have it come to you that way as well. The other way I’ve found that works for me is through writing. The trick is to just write aimlessly. Have absolutely no direction with what you put down. Just start writing and let it flow. You will be so surprised with what comes out. This isn’t something you are writing to show off to your friends so just let it flow. I’ve learned a lot about myself from writing like this. As a matter of fact, I think I’ll do this later today because I know how helpful it is. I never was big on writing throughout school and the thought of getting a journal or a diary was a joke to me. You don’t have to go out and buy a fancy journal to do this at first, in fact, I suggest you don’t until you give it a shot. My first entry I ever wrote was on a piece of printer paper. I didn’t know what to do or if I’d even write anything and next thing I knew, I had that entire page filled and a new outlook on life. I went to my local bookstore soon after and found a really nice journal in the bargain section for like $3. No one has to know about it and no one has to read it. Its just mine to let my thoughts flow onto paper. You can go to the dollar store and buy a cheap notebook and it will work just as well.
Let’s say you already know what is bothering you in your life, but don’t know how to make it better. A common situation people find themselves in is they feel they can’t get out of the situation. They feel stuck. Like there’s no way they can get out of it. I’m here to tell you that there is a way! There is always a way and you are never ever truly “stuck” in a bad situation. It can always get better and it will get better, if you TAKE ACTION. You can sit there and whine about how you are so sick and tired of something as long as you want, but it will never get any better unless you take some sort of action.
Decide that today is the day you do something about it. It’s possible to make your life so much better right now so just do it! What are you waiting for? You have so much more that you can be doing right now and life is only going to get better so take that first step to fixing it. All it takes is the decision to make the first move and it will just flow. It’s like a slinky dropping down the first step and going with the flow until it’s finished the entire staircase. Take action towards getting rid of anything in your life that is currently making you unhappy. It no longer serves you. If you have to, start by finding something better to replace it with. If it’s a job you hate, find something else that will make you money that you actually enjoy doing. When that is secured, quit the job you hate. Just take action towards getting rid of whatever you don’t want in your life anymore.
Always know 100% that it is going to get better. If you’re not totally positive that things are going to be ok, you’re going to fall right back into the hole. If you don’t fully believe it, keep telling yourself you do anyway. Your life is improving. It is getting way better and you’re taking the action to fix it. You’re progressing, and more and more things that you enjoy are going to come into your life. Know things will work out for you in the end. Everything always seems to find a way to work out eventually. Think about all the stuff that you thought was “life-ruining” in the past that no longer is even a thing to you. Take action, think positively, and watch as it gets better and better over time. Enjoy the good life.
