Happiness - A mental or emotional state of well-being characterized by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy.
Everyone wants to be happy. Everyone wants to feel good. The issue is that not everyone does and even fewer know why. Well I’m here to tell you just how to achieve this blissful state.
I’m sorry to have to inform you that I can't just tell you to go work on something specific and *poof* now you’re happy, but you’re going to like this way better. It’s much more immediate and it is not something you have to work hard all your life for. It’s quite opposite, actually. Happiness comes from being in the moment. Right here, right now. Done simply by making a choice. A choice between being upset because something has not yet gotten better, or to be happy with the things that ARE going well. You can choose to be sad, or you can choose to realize ‘Hey, I'm here right now and I’m breathing and I’m constantly progressing through my life. I’m not doing too bad, it could be way worse, and it's just gonna get better.
So what do you have to do to make it better? By doing what feels right to you. That's it! That's the key to happiness. Doing the things that actually make you happy. Its totally personal and it's all yours. If whatever you’re doing feels good to you, you’re doing it right. It can be anything at all, even if it's something others may not enjoy. As long as you feel good about it, it's 100% right for you. So go do things that feel good to you. Appreciate that you feel that way right then and there. You’re doing things that make YOU feel happy. You just need to notice that present tense of feeling good about something. Does reading this feel right? Aren’t you progressing right now? A better person than the one five minutes ago. Stay in the now. You are happy.
A lot of people make the mistake of not letting themselves be happy until something huge they have achieved happens. Buying a car or house, getting married, having children.. Yes, these are things that are going to make you very happy, but don’t forget about your progress along the way! If you only let yourself be happy when major goals are hit, then you’ll be miserable during the process and will only feel happy when it happens, and only temporarily. That doesn’t sound like an ideal life to me. There are awesome things that happen to you every single day that you can and should appreciate.
If you’re really pessimistic, you might not even realize all the great things happening in your life. You may be the type of person who only thinks of things going bad and forget about everything that’s good. You have the mindset that if it isn’t bothering you, then you don’t have to care about it. This is only going to bring you more sadness! That’s the thoughts you are constantly putting out, so can you honestly be surprised that you notice things going wrong all the time? It may be tough at first, but you are going to have to change your mindset. You are now realizing that anything that is going wrong, CAN be fixed and get better. It’s probably just a tiny little dot on the timeframe of your life and it won’t even matter in the future! If you want it to get better, then work on making it better. In the meantime, appreciate what you have and where you are, because there are a lot of people who you are doing way better than in certain aspects of life who would LOVE to be where you are. Appreciate the interactions with people you have, that you are somehow able to be on a computer reading this page, and that you're nourished enough to still be alive. You’ve been through alot, and that’s a good thing. You’re experienced, you’re strong and you’re now ready to finally make the choice of happiness. So take a deep breath, feel that oxygen going into your system right now in this moment and choose to be happy from now on. It’s only progression from here.
